Acne Flare-up and It's Effects on Me + A Bit of Body Image

Hi everyone! We are on our last full day here at Las Palmas and these are photos of my outfit for yesterday evening. As you can see I feel happy and joyful even though my skin doesn't look like it's best. Since coming here my acne completely flared-up and my face especially chin got covered in achy and big breakouts. It's probably because of the sun, sweat and sunscreen combined and has had me a bit down. But I didn't want it to affect my stay here and ruin my so far so good holiday. 

Otherwise I really like how I look in these photos, I look cute and happy, but the acne and uneven skin makes me look at these and think I'm an ugly duckling. And the second thought I get is: Why?! When I see acne on some other person I think nothing about it, but on myself it makes me feel really self-conscious and un-confident. But why must it be so? I try to change my perspective and look at myself and not feel bad about how my skin or my body looks. I want to wear whichever clothes I find pretty and nice looking and wear makeup to accentuate my looks and make them stand out. 

But as I have suffered from a bad self-image and hated my body for so long it's a long journey to somewhere where I can say I truly love it. Right now I'm on a self-accepting phase, I accept myself as I am at this moment, but I can't say I like it. I use this blog as one platform for self-love and a form to grow as a person. I want to show myself as I am and help myself and others with finding their own style and learning about myself at the same time.

Terveisiä Las Palmasista! Täällä on ollut tähän asti ihanaa ja auringosta ja lämmöstä on tullut nautittua näinä ensimmäisinä päivinä. On tullut myös chekkailtua kauppoja, niin vaate kuin kosmetiikka ja tehty jo löytöjä. Yksi niistä on tämä aivan upea röyhelöpaita, johon ihastuin rantaputiikissa jossa jokaista vaatetta oli vain yksi kappale myynnissä. Se sitten tarttui mukaan ja pääsee tänään päälle illallisella. Yhdistin sen farkkukynähameeseen ja mukaan ottamiini oranssiin pikkulaukkuun ja korkokenkiin. Olen aivan hulluna tämön hetkiseen röyhelötrendiin ja olin niin iloinen löytäessäni kirkkaan värisen vaatteen, kun ne ovat olleet suurimmaksi osaksi pastellisävyisiä, mitkä ovat kauniita, mutta itse olen kaivannut kunnon pirteää väriläiskää.

Mitä mieltä olette asusta, iskeekö röyhelöt teihinkin?

Greetings from Las Palmas! It's been absolutely lovely for these first couple of days we have already spent here and we have truly enjoyed the sun and warmth. We have also scouted some stores clothing as well as cosmetics (aloe vera is HUGE in here!) and have made some great finds. One of them is this gorgeous red ruffle blouse which I fell in love with at a a beach boutique which only had one of each piece in sale. I had to have it since I've been completely smitten with the ruffle trend going on and have been on the look for a bright coloured ruffle piece instead of a pastel one.

Lauantaifiilis - Saturday kind of vibe

 Tulikin pidempi tauko kuin oli tarkoitus, syynä siihen on koulunaloitus sählinki. sSain siis viikko sitten tietää, että pääsin hakemaani kouluun sisään! Katsotaan mitä tästä syntyy. Asuntommekin on ollut remontissa ja nyt on kaikki reilassa muuten kuin, että pitää vielä järjestellä tätä kaikkea tavarapaljoutta ja lempipuuhaani lisää sisustamista. Tämän päivän olen viettänyt yllä olevissa rennoissa vaatteissa, kun kävimme noutamassa uuden taulun makuuhuoneeseen ja samalla reissulla koristetyynyt makkarin sängylle. Toimeliasta, mutta samalla hidasta menoa. Mulla on ollut aika rankkaa totuttautua koulurytmiin pitkästä aikaa, mutta ainakin koulu vaikuttaa todella mukavalta paikalta mennä siitä plussaa.

It ended up being a longer break than I had anticipated the reason for it; I got into a new school I applied for and it has been a hassle week for me regarding it. Let's see what comes of it. Our apartment has also been under renovation and we only got new floors this week which means it's been a hassle right here as well. So many bags of stuff (mainly clothes oops) but it also means I get to decorate and find new things to decorate with to make it more homely and interesting. More us more than ever. Today has been spent in easy going clothes when we went to pick up a new painting for our bedroom and I managed to get some pillows to slap on the bed when it's made, a success. It has been at least slightly hard for me to get used to school life since it's been a while, but at least the school ands teachers seem nice and it's interesting.

Ostin pinkin oversize-hupparin keväällä BikBokista juuri tällaisia päiviä varten rentoon menevään menoon jolloin haluaa, että on mukavat vaatteet päällä. Kukkahousut ovat viileät ja mukavan löysät jalassa, ne myös piristävät asun kuin asun, hyvä muutaman euron kirppislöytö. Jalkaan laitoin käytettynä ostetut Niken tennarit, jotka vain ovat kuin tehdyt mun jalkaani.

I bought this pink oversize hoodie from BikBok this spring when they were everywhere having in mind days like these with an easy going mood and action when you wish to have something very comfy and cozy yet presentable on. The floral trousers are a great second-hand find, they're nice and cool and wonderfully comfy and they also make a statement in each outfit they're in. With them I wore my beloved second-hand Nikes which are almost as if made for my feet.

Vaaleanpunaiset housut - Baby pink trousers

Nämä vaaleanpunaiset housut ovat mahtava löytö Uffin 2e-päiviltä (ostin myös useamman muun jutun, hups!). Olen etsinyt viime aikoina kivan näköisiä liehuvia ja leveitä housuja ja myös unelmoinut söpöistä vaaleanpunaisista lahkeista. Näissä housuissa ne yhdistyvät ja liituraita tekee näistä vielä kivemmat. 

Yhdistin ne valkoiseen t-paitaan ja farkkutakkiin, koska halusin lookin olevan ajaton ja rento, kuin loma-asu. Kengät löytyivät eilen kierrätyskeskuksesta myös 2 eurolla(!). Ne ovat tarpeeksi kapoiset minun jalkoihini, joten ne pysyvät hyvin jalassa ilman remmejäkin, mikä on minulle todella harvinaista, ihana tuulahdus 2000-luvun alusta.

These baby pink wide-legged trousers where a fantastic find from Uff's 2e-days (as usual I bought a few other things as well, whoops!). I've been searching for nice looking flowy wide-legged trousers and have also been dreaming of finding a cute pair of pink ones. They all come together in this pair and the pinstripe makes these even nicer. 

I paired them up with a plain white t-shirt and a jean jacket because I wanted the look to be timeless and laid-back, a holiday outfit. I found these shoes from the recycling center yesterday for mere 2 euros as well. They are narrow enought for my feet which is a total surprise since these kind of shoes very rarely stay put on my feet properly so I had to get them, and they are a fun blast from the past early 2000's.

Meren äärellä - By the sea

Päädyimme tänään kiertelemään luontopolkuja Viikissä ja kotimatkalla pysähdyimme ottamaan kuvia Vanhankaupunginkosken lähellä meren äärellä. Keli oli mitä mainioin ja vietimmekin reissullamme kolmisen tuntia kävellen vaihdellen peltojen, metsikön ja meren laitamilla. Pyrimme ottamaan hyödyn näistä harvoista kauniista kesäpäivistä, joita on meille tänä kesänä suotu ja mikä sen parempi kuin uusiin paikkoihin tutustuminen.

Kuvia editoidessani huomasin, että olin pukeutunut merensävyisiin vaatteisiin kauttaaltaan. Paita on alelöyty keväältä, johon ihastuin täysin, kun näin sen netissä, hame taas on tämänpäiväinen löytö Uffilta ja laukku tarttui mukaan Fidalta eilen muutaman muunkin asian muassa (joita tulee näkymään tulevaisuudessa, vink).

English: We decided to spend the day after my boyfriends work walking down the nature paths around Viikki and on our way home we stopped by Vanhankaupunginkoski by the sea to snap some photos. The weather was as pleasant as ever and we ended up spending around three hours on our journey. We've been trying to make our best out of the very few nice days we've been given this summer and what better than getting to know new places.

When I was editing these photos I noticed I was clad from head to toe in shades of the sea. The shirt is a sales find from spring which I got infatuated with when I saw it online. The skirt is a find from UFF today when I stopped by the store and the bag (which I adore!) tagged along from Fida with a few other items (I'll be showing soon, wink).

Kukkia ja leopardia - Flowers and leopard print

Tänään oli todella lämmin päivä, joten asuksi valikoitui kevyttä ja pientä vaatetta. Shortsit ostin eilen alennusmyynneistä, kun ihastuin niiden printtiin. Olen myös kovin ihastunut tämän hetkeen trendiin eli olkapäiden yli meneviin kaula-aukkoihin. Sellaisen vaatteen lisäämisellä asuun saa heti aikaan romantiikkaa ja tyttömäisyyttä kertarysäyksellä. 

Tähän asuun halusin yhdistää kahta printtiä muuten mustien asusteiden vuoksi ja rakas aiemmin kesällä Fidalta löytämäni Springfieldin kukkakirjailtu laukku hoiti sen mielestäni hyvin. Se rikkoo tummaa värimaailmaa juuri sopivasti (ja sopii kynsiini), jolloin asu ei ole liian yksinkertainen.

English: The weather was really humid and warm today so I wanted to wear something light and small. I bought these shorts from sale yesterday because I just fell for the print. I'm also fawning over the over-the-shoulder trend. An instant way of adding romance and girliness to a piece of clothing.


To this outfit I wanted to pair two different prints since all other parts where plain black. My dear Springfield floral embroider bag which I found at a thrift shop earlier this summer was the one to add. It breaks the darkness of the outfit in a mischievous way (and fits my nails well) so that the outfit doesn't seem too bland.
